Dear Andretti Winery Friends -
By now, we are sure that you have heard about the devastating 6.0 magnitude earthquake that struck the Napa Valley on Sunday, August 24th.
Principle owners Mario Andretti and Joe Antonini were staying at a local hotel when the earthquake hit at 3:20 AM. Joe and Mario immediately texted each other to make sure that the other man was safe and unhurt. Once they confirmed that they were both alright, Mario headed to the racetrack in Sonoma where he was scheduled to be driving the two-seater Indy car for charity and Joe headed to the winery to start the arduous task of cleanup alongside the winery team.
Andretti Winery was extremely fortunate that the damage here was fairly minimal compared to a number of other wineries in the area. We lost a relatively minor amount of wine and merchandise. By 10:30 AM, the winery was open for business and ready to greet our guests for tastings.
Our thoughts are with our neighbors who have been severely impacted by this disaster, and we encourage you and your friends to support local merchants, restaurants, wineries and businesses – most will be open this week. Your continued business is a wonderful way to support economic recovery.
We want to say thank you to you, our loyal wine club members and customers for the generous outpouring of calls, emails and texts with messages of caring and concern for our winery and its staff (and Merlot the cat, too!). It is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
