“Dolce In Vigneto”
Andretti Winery, located in the heart of the Napa Valley, is pleased to announce “Dolce In Vigneto”, the winery’s newest Wine & Food culinary experience, featuring renowned Pastry Chef Penelope Jane. This exciting program features the sweet side of Italian life – dessert creations from the kitchen of Pastry Chef Penelope Jane, paired with signature Andretti wines. The events take place in Andretti Winery’s Italian villa – modeled after the home of its founder, legendary racecar driver Mario Andretti. Andretti Winery is recognized for producing fine wines of the traditional regional varietals as Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, as well as premium Italian varietals Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio, and Dolcetto.
Upon arriving at Andretti Winery, guests will be greeted at the winery with a glass of Pinot Grigio in the Fountain Courtyard. The program then follows into the Villa for a culinary demonstration led by Chef Penelope Jane. Here Penelope will teach and entertain guests, enabling participants to take home the technique and recipe of the day’s selections. Following the demonstration, guests will enjoy a tour of the grounds, including a visit to the historic Barrel Room for a tasting of new-vintage wines, right from the barrel. Finally, guests return to the Villa for the Michael Chiarello’s Napa Style Paninoteca Family-Style Luncheon served with Napa Valley Chardonnay and Sangiovese. Lunch concludes with the Dolce dessert personally prepared by Chef Penelope Jane and a dessert wine tasting in the Tasting Room.
Chef Penelope Jane
Chef Penelope Jane began her career at a very early age, with her easy-bake-oven. Early on, she had a love of baking. Later in life, she traded in her light-bulb oven for a commercial range. She has been baking professionally for 10 years and received her Baking Pastry Certificate at The Culinary Institute of America. Her industry experience started in bakeries of San Diego and later took to New York City. In the renowned kitchens of Gramercy Tavern, The River Cafe and St Regis Hotel, she honed her skills and crafted her style. Today, in Penelope’s own kitchen, she creates a variety of tantalizing desserts ranging from whimsical cakes, to varieties of tarts, cupcakes, and chocolate truffles. Chef Penelope’s passion is using only Napa Valley grown fruits and local ingredients in her desserts.
Dolce in Vigneto experiences begin on Saturday, October 13 and are scheduled throughout the year, ending with a Valentine’s Day themed Chocolate Truffle experience on Saturday, February 9, 2013. Dolce in Vigneto begins at 11am and ends at 1:30pm. The price is $55 per person.
